WHAT ARE WE BLOGGING ABOUT?

Technology is allowing anyone with a computer, the ability to type, and an Internet connection to become a published author—of sorts. Web logs, or “blogs,” are the latest way that students, businesses, and many others are publishing their musings.

 More importantly, blogs are “typically updated daily” and that “blogs often reflect the personality of the author.”

Yet, it is the content of blogs that matters, not the tool. The tools  allow a broad, non-technical audience to publish news, information, and opinions widely. The content can range from dyed-in-the-wool journalism to stream-of-consciousness revelations. What you really need to consider before blogging, is: Why are you going to do it? To reach individuals with critical information, to express opinions, to teach students writing skills, or simply as an outlet for personal frustrations?

As a teacher (and blogger) I say, “Ask yourself, ‘So what?’ before you start blogging. Will your blog add to the world of knowledge and learning, or is it just for fun?” 
 

I do hope technology through blog could  bring betterment to teachers to ensure quality education in Indonesia

There is much discussion in English language teaching about teacher research.Action research is seen as a way for teachers to investigate their classroom and to deepen their knowledge of research. Procedure:

1. Give questionnaire to Students.(the direction must be clear) The aim is to gather some information about a person that they respect ,topics they like to discuss,new big issue they read,etc.

Sample questions:

· Who is the person you respect so much?

· What is the the headline news you read or know from someone recently?

· Who is your favorite artist?

· Do you know anything about Bali blast or “Bom Bali”? Who are the actor? Why did they do it?

• What do you think of today’s traffic? Is it because of ‘Busway” project?

2. Brainstorming. T. devide the class into 2 big groups (interviewer & interviewee group ) From the questionnaire teacher classified the topic into 5-7 . for example (Drugs,Celebrity,Traffic,Violence,Sports)

3. T.choose 3-6 SS to be put into the classification.

    example 1 : for’ Drug’  T.choose some SS acting as Roy Martin,Gogon,Bimbim”Slank”,or  celebrity   deal  with  the drug recently.

 example 2 : for ‘Vilonce’  T  choose  3  SS  acting as Amrozi,Imam Samudra and Muklas.

4. T.  explain in detail things to prepare for the press conference & of course “the do & don’t”

5. Each student who will be interviewed must search for detail info about the person he would  act to be ,the profile,the look, the  way of speak,the style, the latest info about him/her.

6. The interviewer must prepare list of question to be asked but must be 80% open ended question.
